Dale Clarke’s work in Catholic schools over 15 years has always been centred around building a school’s authentic expression of a lived faith. He is passionate about creating opportunities for vibrant and joyful expressions of the Catholic faith in all aspects of College life. Dale brings experience from teaching and faith formation roles in Adelaide, Sydney and Los Angeles.
His experience coordinating service programs at schools in Sydney and Los Angeles has strengthened his understanding of service as an expression of faith, and something which is vital to nurture in students. His time volunteering in prison ministry in these two cities also forged his understanding of service to the marginalised and relationship with God as mutually fruitful.
A former journalist, Dale’s teaching background includes English as well as his preferred teaching area, Maths. Further to his Master of Teaching degree, he has also completed study in Theology (Master of Arts – Theology and Ministry at Boston College), Data Science (Graduate Certificate at Adelaide University), and Journalism (University of South Australia).
At Marist-Sion College, Dale leads the animation of the College’s Catholic identity and mission, using data-informed tools such as the Catholic Identity and Religious Education (CIRE) and Enhancing Catholic School Identity (ECSI) surveys to measure impact. He designs and implements professional learning for staff, fostering a dialogical and recontextualised approach to faith formation.
Dale facilitates our FIRE Carrier group, which leads Reconciliation initiatives at the college. He is passionate about understanding the experience of indigenous students and staff in secondary schools in Australia, and empowering students to create new and meaningful Reconciliation pathways.
Dale is supported by his beautiful family – his wife and son – and regularly visits his family in Adelaide where he grew up.
